Although many MR GREENS products are organic, the majority are either organic and/or non-gmo, or simply contain natural ingredients.
Many ingredients may be naturally gluten free but due to cross-contamination cannot be packaged as certified gluten free. Certified gluten free guarantees the absence of gluten at the regulated threshold amount, making it safe for coeliacs and people with gluten sensitivities.
There are 14 main food allergens, which are: celery, cereals containing gluten (such as barley and oats), crustaceans (such as prawns, crabs and lobsters), eggs, fish, lupin, milk, molluscs (such as mussels and oysters), mustard, peanuts, sesame, soybeans, sulphur dioxide and sulphites (if they are at a concentration of more than ten parts per million) and tree nuts (such as almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts, cashews, pecans, pistachios and macadamia nuts). Although the product ingredients may not contain these allergens, the consumer should ensure to check for cross-contamination warnings on packages.
Recyclable packaging is any form of packaging that can be reused and recycled. Biodegradable packaging is able to decay naturally by bacteria or other natural organisms. Compostable packaging is able to decay naturally too, but provides valuable nutrients for fertilising once it is broken down.
